The Quality of Living

Helix refused to meet Caredetru's gaze. Instead, he looked onto the mass of people in the bar, living their own lives, unaware of the evils that were planned in the booth.

"Fine. I'll go up to five million of person. But that's final. I have to keep our cut completely separate from the charity money. I already pledged most of it privately and I'd have to do a few hail Mary's if I go back on what I pledge."

"I won't argue with that. When do we start? Or can I just assume that there is a freighter already hovering behind the bar ready to take us up?"

Helix returned his stare to the table and grinned, "Close, but theres a supply freighter down at a starport near Coruscant's southern pole. As I've said before, it has all the equipment we'll need to get on the station, and is leaving in about 20 minutes or so. All we have to do is stowaway and it'll be an expressway to the bank."

The floor groaned as Caredetru's weight shifted off of the sagging booth cushions. He held his sword in check, and brushed his hair back with his fingers. "I only hope that where ever we are hiding will fit me."

"It's not a matter of the actual ship. Unless you have an appointment, the station refuses to dock the ship. Theres no way to actually dock at the station unless they allow it. The freighter will already have docking privileges and will bring us to a less secured part of the station."

"Doesn't this bank go throught the InterGalactic Bank? I think it does because as an accounts Manager they occasionally store their credits in IGB. Perhaps we can act as if we are a routine group of mercs here to pick up the credits to transfer to the IGB. If not we can go with the stealth systems, but personally as a member of a bank i am sure they have security systems to counter that." said Ali

"Top of the line stealth systems, no one can see us" Duvnar said knowing how convenient it was to have Zane design all your equipment.

"Listen," Helix barks, spreading out the blueprint once more and pointing to the security systems around the 4 docking areas, "This bank has quadrillions of credits, and is outside the most populated and desperate planet in the Galaxy. If any old Joe with a fancy ship and a label maker could run in there, then they'd be flat broke. Being invisible doesn't help go through walls. As for the mercenary thing, it would never work. They'd carefully regulate all the credits we deduct, and they'd probably contact IGB to confirm. Plus, many of my major financiers are part of the IGB, so it'd be unethical."

"I am IGB's Account Manager, everyone answers to me about anything involving banking problems etc, but if you aren't confortable i understand....don't feel like losing my job or going to prison...not good on the resume..."

He combed his hair with his hair and said," What do you have in mind then? "

"We're going to stowaway on a large shipping freighter, which I had someone smuggle combat equipment on. The freighter will take off, and lead us to the rear supply dock of the station. When it docks, we'll utilize stealth receptors to render us invisible until we can meet up with a contact of mine in the station. From there, we'll utilize the aft service tunnels to make our way to the data core. From there, we can transfer all the cash to the charities. After that, we'll make our way back to the service tunnels and into a seperate vault for tangible money. We'll steal all the money we can hold, shortly before having my contact meet up with us at the employee docking bay, where they'll pilot us off the station."

"Actually, the money will be transfered to an A.I. in the outer rim that's programmed to send the money to the charities. From the A.I., it'll be untraceable, and the A.I. itself will self-destruct after the transfer."

"I need a certain level of intelligence so the A.I. can provide me with information harvested from the internet and other sources while the robbery is in progress. It will alert me if anything unplanned occurs."

"I personally have always been a fan of A.I. so I agree with Helix here. And I think your plan is good enough to work. So when are we leaving for this journey? I suggest we wait a day or too for the drunks here to sober up" he said as he sneered at everyone.

"Keep your eyes to yourself," Caredetru jeered, "or at least to Duvnar. There's nothing here fro you to be looking at. Only thing running through my body that's not supposed to be there is from a busted line in my knee a few weeks ago."

"Ok fine, but you don't need to watch me either. I never get drunk anymore" Duvnar says drinking down his twentith bottle of ale.

"Yeah sure Duvnar I wouldnt believe you for a second. I just don't want some drunk watching my back." Said Ali

"We have to leave now, or close to it. The transport is sure as hell not waiting for us."

"I'm ready."

"Ali, I thought you knew me better..." Duvnar said dissapointed in him. Then he nodded to Cared in agreement and said "Lets go".

Ali shook his head at Duvnar as he also agreed it was time to leave.

Helix stood and regally pushed the door open, revealing his sleek, new hovercraft. It's aerodynamic shape compensated for it's size and capacity, and Helix opened the door and slid in, looking back at the others with a devilish smirk on his face.

"Get in."
